Handyman advertising and marketing

Handyman marketing: turn one fix into the whole to-do list.

We bring people to your site from Google. Handyman work is small jobs from people who trust you. The trouble is they forget your number by the time the next thing breaks. We keep you in front of past customers, answer calls while your hands are full and ask for reviews.

See how it works in about a minute and a half. Sound on.

Where handyman businesses lose work

  • A past customer's next small job goes to whoever they find first.
  • You're mid-repair when the phone rings, and voicemail doesn't book anything.
  • Few of your customers have left a review, so new people can't see how good you are.

When we reach back out for you

  • Spring: A to-do list nudge: screens, decks, gutters and the things that waited all winter.
  • Fall: Weatherproofing and small repairs before the cold.
  • Holiday season: A note before guests arrive: loose railings, doors, shelves.
  • After every job: A review ask that takes the customer one tap.

Handyman advertising: what actually brings in jobs

Handyman advertising works differently than advertising for bigger trades. Most handyman jobs are small, so you need a lot of them, and you need customers to come back. The cheapest work you will ever get is the next item on a past customer's to-do list. Good handyman marketing covers new customers and repeat ones:

  • A complete Google Business Profile. The right categories, your service area, real job photos and steady new reviews help you show up when someone searches for a handyman.
  • A website that lists what you fix. Drywall, doors, trim, fixtures, decks, fences, assembly and the small jobs bigger contractors skip.
  • Every call answered. You are mid-repair when the phone rings, and voicemail does not book anything. Most people call the next handyman.
  • Every quote followed up. Check ins at 3, 10 and 30 days on bigger jobs.
  • A review after every job, so new customers can see how good you are.
  • Past customers reminded by season. Screens and decks in spring, weatherproofing in fall, loose railings and doors before the holidays.
  • Facebook and Instagram ads in the towns you serve, once the basics are in place.

Handyman leads: where they come from and how to keep more of them

Where handyman leads come from

  • Google search and the map. Homeowners searching for a handyman in their town find your profile and pages and call you directly, with no per lead fee.
  • Past customers and referrals. People who liked your work usually have more on the list, and friends who need the same.
  • Realtors and property managers who need repairs done before a sale or between tenants.
  • Your Facebook Page and community groups, where neighbors ask for recommendations.
  • Facebook and Instagram ads. On System+ and System++, we run Meta ads to homeowners in the towns you serve, with ad spend included.
  • Targeted postcards. Premium targeted postcards to homes near your recent jobs are an add-on.

What we do with every handyman lead

  • Missed calls are answered day or night, and the caller's name, number, town, the job and a good time to call back are emailed to you right away.
  • Callers who opt in to texts get a quick text in your business's name, so they know their request landed.
  • Open quotes get check ins at 3, 10 and 30 days, and follow-up stops the moment the customer books or says no.
  • Every finished job gets a review request by email, and by text for customers who opted in.

Facebook and Instagram ads for handymen

Facebook and Instagram are where many homeowners ask neighbors for a handyman, so ads there fit the work well. On System+ and System++, we run ads that show your real jobs to homeowners in the towns you serve. Each ad sends people to your website or straight to a call, and every lead gets the same follow-up as a phone call.

  • Ad spend included. $200/mo on System+ ($697/mo) and $400/mo on System++ ($947/mo), with no separate ad bill.
  • Your real work in every ad. Before and after photos from your own jobs.
  • Only the towns you serve, so you are not driving an hour for a small repair.
  • Full control. You see every ad and can change or pause any of it anytime.

We don't run search ads. More on Facebook and Instagram ads

A handyman website that turns visits into calls

A handyman website should answer one question fast: does this person fix what I need? It has to load quickly on a phone and make calling easy. Every handyman website we build includes:

  • Your phone number at the top, with one tap to call.
  • A clear list of the jobs you do, grouped so people can find their problem in seconds.
  • Pages for the towns you serve, each written for that town.
  • Real before and after photos and recent reviews.
  • A short job request form with room for a photo of the problem.

Your website is included on every plan with no setup or build fees, and we keep it updated every month. You keep your domain, your site and your customer list.

Handyman advertising questions, straight answers

How to find clients as a handyman?

Start with the people who already hired you. Remind past customers about the rest of their to-do list, ask every happy customer for a review and a referral, and stay in touch with realtors and property managers who need small repairs fast. For new clients, keep a complete Google Business Profile with real job photos, have a website that lists what you fix and the towns you serve, and answer every call, because most handyman jobs go to whoever picks up first.

How to start getting handyman jobs?

Set up a Google Business Profile and a simple website first, so people can find and check you. Tell friends, family and neighbors what you do, and ask your first customers for reviews right after each job. Take before and after photos of everything. Then follow up on every quote and remind past customers when the season changes. Once you have a few reviews, ads in the towns you serve help fill the gaps.

How to list handyman services on Facebook Marketplace?

Facebook's commerce policies don't allow home maintenance services to be sold through Marketplace listings, and listing a service as an item can get it removed. Instead, list your services in the Services section of your Facebook business Page, post finished work on the Page, join community groups that allow service posts and follow each group's rules, and run Facebook and Instagram ads to people in the towns you serve.

How do handymen get leads?

Most handyman leads come from Google search and the map, past customers, referrals, neighbors who see your truck, realtors and property managers, Facebook and Instagram ads, postcards and lead selling sites. Leads from your own profile, site, reviews and past customers have no per lead fee. Lead selling sites charge per lead and often share each one, so check current terms before you buy.

What should a handyman website have?

Your phone number at the top with one tap to call, a clear list of the jobs you do and the jobs you don't, pages for the towns you serve, real before and after photos, recent reviews, your insurance and license details where your state requires them, and a short form where people can describe the job and add a photo.

Do you run search ads?

No. We don't run search ads. On System+ and System++, we run Facebook and Instagram ads for your handyman business in the towns you serve, with $200/mo in ad spend included on System+ ($697/mo) and $400/mo on System++ ($947/mo). You see every ad and can change or pause any of it anytime.

I only have a notebook of customers. Is that enough?

Yes. Type or photograph the list when you sign up. We help you get it in.

Is texting extra?

No. Texting is included in every plan. Carrier registration takes a week minimum, so texting turns on as soon as the carriers approve it, about 1 to 2 weeks after signup. Premium targeted postcards and the $99/mo ordering add-on, which sends phone and online orders straight into your Clover or Square, are the only add-ons, billed separately. We text only customers who opted in.

Do you work with shops outside my area?

Yes. We work with independent businesses nationwide, not just one region. Setup is online and support is by email and phone.
