Facebook ads for small business: when they work

Facebook and Instagram ads put your shop in front of people who live in, or were recently in, the towns you serve, while they scroll. Most of those people are not searching for you yet. That is the point: social media ads for small business reach the homeowner who has been meaning to fix the fence, or the family that would try a new spot if they saw it. The ads that bring real customers tend to have five things in common.

  • A tight area. Only the towns and ZIP codes you actually serve, so your budget is not spent on people an hour away.
  • Your own photos and clips. Real jobs, real food, real crews. Stock photos look like everyone else.
  • One clear offer. One service, one season, one reason to reach out now, like “Need aeration?” or “AC not cooling?”
  • An easy way to respond. A short form inside Facebook or Instagram that asks people to check their details before sending, or one tap to call.
  • Fast follow-up. A form fill that waits two days for a reply is usually a lost customer. On System, every lead gets followed up, including the ones your ads bring in.

What our Facebook ads management includes

On System+ and System++, a real person sets up and runs your Meta ads, on top of everything in System. Here is what that covers each month:

  • Setup: a one time Facebook access invite, your service area, the jobs you want more of, and 3 or more ad versions at launch.
  • Ads built from your material: photos and short video ads cut from the clips you shoot on your phone.
  • Watching and changing: if an ad is not bringing in form fills, we change it. Fresh ad versions go out every month.
  • Real customers, not cheap clicks: ads are set up for form fills from real people, not the lowest cost click.
  • Leads only to you: unlike marketplaces that send the same request to several pros.
  • Ad spend included: $200/mo on System+ and $400/mo on System++. We pay Meta directly, so there is no separate ad bill and no card on file with Meta.
  • A plain monthly report: what ran, the leads it brought in and the jobs you booked, with a private link.

What Facebook ads cost: ad spend and management

Every Facebook ads budget has two parts. Ad spend is what Meta charges to show your ads. Management is what you pay someone to build, watch and fix them. Many providers bill these separately, so the price you are quoted is often only half of what you pay each month.

  • Ad spend. You set a budget, and Meta charges as your ads are shown or clicked. Costs move with your area, your season and how many other businesses are advertising.
  • Management. Usually a flat monthly fee, a percentage of ad spend, or both. Ask whether setup, ad design and video editing are included.
  • The rest of the system. Ads bring people to you. Someone still has to answer the calls, reply to forms and follow up on quotes, or the ad money is wasted.

With us, ad spend and management are one price: System+ is $697/mo with $200/mo in ad spend included, and System++ is $947/mo with $400/mo included. Both include your website, Google profile, call answering, follow-up, review asks and past customer outreach. No setup fees, billed monthly, cancel anytime.

Before you hire anyone to run your ads, ask:

  • Is ad spend included, or billed on top? Get the total monthly number in writing.
  • Do I keep my Facebook Page and see every ad? You should. With us you do.
  • Are the leads mine alone? Shared leads mean racing other companies to call back.
  • Who follows up on the leads? Ads without follow-up waste your budget.
  • Are they promising a number of leads? Nobody can honestly promise that. We don't.

What happens after someone responds to your ad

The ad is only the first step. On System+ and System++, every lead your ads bring in goes through the same follow-up as the rest of your work:

  • Form fills go only to your shop, with details the person double checked before sending.
  • Calls you miss are answered day or night, and the details are emailed to you.
  • Open quotes get check-ins at 3, 10 and 30 days until the customer books or says no.
  • Finished jobs get a review request, so the next person who sees your ad also sees fresh reviews.

That is why ads here come bundled with System instead of on their own. More on call answering and getting more Google reviews.

Facebook ads questions, straight answers

Are Facebook ads worth it for small businesses?

They can be, when the ads reach people in the towns you serve, show your real work, make a clear offer and lead to a short form or a call that someone answers fast. They work less well with a tiny budget, stock photos and no follow-up. Facebook and Instagram ads reach people before they search, so they pair well with a strong Google profile and website.

How much does it cost to hire a Facebook ad agency?

Agencies price this in different ways, usually a monthly management fee, a percentage of ad spend, or both, and the ad spend itself is billed on top by Meta. Some add a setup fee or a minimum contract. Ask any agency for the total monthly cost in writing, including ad spend. With us, System+ is $697/mo with $200/mo in ad spend included, plus everything in System, with no setup fee and no long contract.

Is $1 a day enough for Facebook ads?

Meta will let you run ads on a very small budget, but $1 a day reaches very few people and rarely brings steady form fills for a service business. It is fine for a quick test of a boosted post. For lead ads in a few towns, plan on more. On System+, $200/mo in ad spend works out to roughly $6.50 a day, and System++ includes $400/mo.

How much does Facebook ads management cost?

Management is the work of building, watching and changing the ads, and it is priced separately from the ad spend by most providers. With us it is bundled: System+ is $697/mo including $200/mo in ad spend, and System++ is $947/mo including $400/mo. Both include everything in System, like your website, call answering, follow-up and review asks.

Do you run Instagram ads too?

Yes. Meta runs Facebook and Instagram ads from the same place. Your ads are made for both and shown to people in the towns you serve.

Do I keep my Facebook Page?

Yes. You keep your Facebook Page either way. You accept a one time Facebook access invite, with no passwords shared and no Ads Manager for you to learn.

Can I change or pause my ads?

Yes. You see every ad we run for you and can change or pause any of it anytime.

Do you promise a number of leads?

No. Results depend on your season, market and offer. We show you the real numbers every month and don't promise leads, calls or jobs.

Is the ad budget part of the price?

Yes, on System+. The $697 monthly fee includes $200/mo in ad spend, and we manage the ads for you. We pay Meta directly, so there's no separate ad bill. System ($279/mo) has no ads.
